6800 overclock

better cooling can help to get a better overclock, tho from my experiences it helps the most with the memory, without a volt mod the core seems to pretty much max out on the stock cooling on most cards, might get an extra 5Mhz... I can't really advise volt modding tho unless your prepared to replace the card soon.

Whoever it was that got a asus v9999GE card and unlocked it, nice 1. Mine didnt unlock as i got artifacts and could barely reverse the change as it kept going artifact heavy during loading of windows. Luckily i got it back to normal tho cant remember how at the mo lol.

Overclockin it wasnt too good i think, well maybe the ram didnt go too much but cant remember the core i got to.

I got the 6800GT when it was first released, still using it now. Cracker wee cards, ive got it too 420/1150 and was pleased with the results so didnt go further. Busting for somthing better now thou tbh, but still wanna keep my rig so no pci stuff. Hope santa reads this ;)

I've just got rid of one 6800le and sods law a mate at work then said he was getting rid of a gfx card and would I want it, turned out to be an Asus V9999 GeForce 6800 Gamer Edition which unlocks to 16/6 :) I'm using it in a shuttle so clock's aren't mega but I whacked it into my brothers old system XP3200+ with a decent sparkle psu and the Asus hit 455/1.2 ghz sweet ! now I just need to find a heftier psu for my shuttle and it's play time. hmmm wonder what it'd do on water :p

*edit* oh yeh it set me back £50  zoink

*update* got this in my soltek shuttle with a 100W psu giggle, this is a vanilla 6800 not a GT\LE\XT etc

Stable clocks of 420/1.1 ghz I'm a moist happy bunny best of all gpu never goes above 55 even at load ( idles at 47 ) and mem hits between 50-60 degrees the cooling on this card is stonking !

Sure it's old tech but for £50 I can't complain, it'll handle Vista ( if I ever go for it ) and I'm not a hardcore 1337 gamer.

03 scores 10550 on a soltek Qbic with XP2700+ @ stock ( 2.2 ) which isn'y much up on the 6800LE I sold recently, but in games and on 05 I've noticed a big increase possibly down to increased BW of memory also it's a 256mb as opposed to 128mb card.

i get 435Mhz Core and 2.15GHz on MEM(DDR)

although i run it a little lower than that just to be sure, running at 425 Core and 2.1 Mem at the moment

p.s. this is on a 6800GT on Water

not knocking your post Dr D but i'm certain it's not getting 2 gig on mem clocks, on auto detect in nv control panel it set mine to 1.5 gig on the4 core and 2.2 gig on mem

now I know that's wheeeeeeeey wrong so I set my own. GDDR4 is hitting 2 gig now and I would stake my life that whatever oc tool your using is misreading your ram speed's I'd bet they're actually 1.2 ish

Its the current(ish) nVidia drivers - they seem to think the input clock speed isn't already doubled (when it is) and double it... hence why mine shows 2.5+gig when really its only doing 1200-1400.

Think mine did around 390/914 or something like that, with an extra vertex pipeline unlocked (sadly only 12 pixel pipes). Definitely a lot of headroom on the memory.

I'm thinking of pushing it a bit more tonight :p current clocks:

Core: 418
Mem: 885

will games run better if I overlock the core more or the memory

ta

ok
I'm going to run it a bit more with those settings + I just oced the CPU so I'll be testing that 1st, once I'm happy with that I'll start to fiddle with the core ..

thanks
