My shiney new Asus 6850 is installed and waiting the oc treatment.

Any other 6850 oweners out there and what is your current oc including voltages?

Also, what programme are people using? The Afterburner Beta or Sapphire's Trixx programme? Or indeed something else?

I use sapphire trixx as i have sapphire card. I cannot tell whether trixx works with other brands, as i had to register with cards s/n to download the application.

my sapphire card clocks 975/1181 at stock voltage
I tried clocking to 1020/1181 with slight voltage increase - works perfectly fine, but i clocked it back to 975, as i have a very weak PSU, don't want to blow it up.

I have always used Rivatuner for GPU overclocking. The built-in customisable hardware monitoring feature is pretty useful and it gives plenty of other options, like 2d settings and fan control.

Pretty much exactly what I got with a Sapphire card and same utility. Please let me know if you suffer from the issues in this thread sand_dune: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18219933 I'd like to know your idle temp and if you get the speed bumps or spikes to max clocks in 2D/Idle/Windows.

I'm capable of running 1000/1150 totally stable. Mem worked at 1185, but I back off for a little breathing room as it failed at 1200 in the Lost Planet 2 test A (but ran most other things, including Heaven and Furmark).

A really nice setting would be 925 1150, for nearly all the performance increase and some breathing room for the card - it has only got one PCI-E connector after all.

Yes, stock voltage up to around 950-980, slight bump to 1000+ on this model card:

I am having a few issues with powerplay and idle temps (link above), but no one else is by the looks of it!

I only tested 1000 core with a default 6870 voltage (1.181v from 1.145 6850 default, Trixx allows up to 1.3v!!!). It may well run at lower voltage for 1000, (what did you use sand_dune?), but I was lazy and in quick testing mode.

Temps were all 75C or below in GPU limited game testing 100% load. Didn't test out Furmark with it at 1000 - don't see the need as it's just a power hog and I don't want to bust the card LOL!

Oh yeah, I also got a 25% increase in performance in the Lost Planet 2 Test B DX11 benchmark, at max settings 1080p 8xAA. Although ATI cards don't perform as well as nVidia in this (seems optimized by the green team), it's a great test as it's 100% GPU limited (checked my Quad core wasn't nearing 100%) at these very harsh settings and DX11 is, er, DX11 - a GPU killer in most games:

FPS rose from 25 (default 775/1000) to 31 under 1000/1150.
At 925/1150 they were 29.7fps!
And 850/1150 28.2fps

So as you can see, it scales very well with core speed. At 1000, it must be very close to a 6870.

Exactly I did a quick testing mode for 1020/1181, I can't even say what voltage was, i just dragged the slider some way to the right. Maybe it was 1.185 or 1.22, but I can say that it ran 1.188 @1002Mhz (just another random result)

My idle temps are quite high about 55C, I have Iplayer running in the backgroud. But I'm not bothered about temps. We all know the idle consumption and it is very low (under 20W). I get high temps because my pc case is badly ventilatel, just 1 cooler in PSU and i have +23C in my room.

I don't suffer from any problems. But I had some with older 10.10 drivers. If only i changed voltage by any amount black dots would start appearing around screen. So I used to stay on stock voltage. But with new 10.12 drivers that problem is gone.

Thanks for the info sand_dune - sounds like your card idles like mine, probably the same model.

If you check GPU-Z you will probably see some strange clock rises to max clocks where it goes to 775/1000 (or your overclock) from 100/300 for no reason!

Also, Trixx once executed, on my system prevents the card from dropping its voltage back to 2D 0.945v, it stays at a constant 1.145v (or whatever you set) regardless of 2D/3D clocks. So it may be using more energy than you think if you have the same issue! Or perhaps this is how its meant to work???

That's the main thing I'm trying to solve now, but an awesome card with 25% overclock potential.

Did you give it a go welshdragon. :)

I found what was causing the idling clock spikes, but probably wait forever for a fix so I'll switch to Firefox in Win7, "protected mode" be damned. Just want the 2D voltage from Trixx now when overclocked and I'll be well happy.

At the moment, I'm using default clocks for normal usage and power saving, then if I run a demanding game that needs it, fire up Trixx and overclock for that 25% boost! Hopefully I'll be able to edit the bios at a later date once we have support in RBE (Radeon Bios Editor) and make 1000 1150 permanent with the 2D clocks and voltages working fully. I'd do it in a Hex editor if I could find the right address to edit.

Well happy with this card - perfect performance for the casual gamer. And no more banding using AF filtering, but texture flickering can still be an issue occasionally although that's been a long time issue for nVidia and ATI. Hopefully that will get put to bed soon too.

Not yet been working, been working shifts over Christmas. Its high on my list though.

Been having a play around in the CCC though and do people generally leave the AA/AF etc on default and let the game do the work or do they set it CCC and also use ingame settings?

Just whacked mine up halfway and the improvement in starcraft 2 is fantastic. Just assumed with everything on ultra sc2 would also apply AA etc but obviously not?

Also, could a mod change this to Official 6850 pverclocking thread to generate more interest?

Everyone overclocking post your result in here including voltages.

Right just had a bash and stable at 1000 core 1150 mem on 1218 volts.

Gaming for an hour on that the temp hit 66c so I hope thats not too high??

Performance wise I benched the system using 3dmark vantage from 2008.

my 6850 at stock gave a gfx score of 13015. With the above overclock this improved to 15267.

However this is an old 3dmark so shall have to download a newer one but was just to give an indication.

Also @spirits I've noticed the spikes too. The idle clocks appear to head south to 100/300 with the overclock applied but not sure about the voltage.
