6970 possibly delayed!

I think AMD delayed setting final spec's and sending out final Bios's etc. until they new what they were up against with the 580.

It would be a bit of a face palm moment if AMD released a lower clocked 6970 that was slightly slower than a 580, when they could have sacrificed a little power consumption clocked it up a bit to edge the win, and claim fasted single GPU crown.
 
Or they are playing things close to their chests until the very last minute. They have got the chips so they can build the cards, they just haven't got the bios and the drivers to run the cards.

Everyone knows that as soon as you get completed cards/drivers by the manufacturers then you start getting leaks. Sounds to me like AMD are trying to keep a very tight control on the performance until the last minute.
