6970 stuttering issue

A job well done! Hopefully everything will work now :)

Though please, if you ever get a new card, don't do it again when your card is still under warranty :D.

Haha yeah... However, how the technician at OCuk managed to run all the benchmarks in the report when I RMA'd is beyond me, must have been in testing in a fridge !

I'm sure you'll agree after what I've written in my posts, the card was defective.

Time to move it into my main rig and boot up BF3 :)

Hmm, well I hope someone at OCuk will see this and refund you as you expect that problem to ramp up with any heavy GPU utilisation. Also it's quite off putting to me that you've done a better job than whoever has tested your GPU. Well do you think that could depend on heat?. Is the room where you keep your PC warm?.

Also, in benchmarks, wouldn't the frames you are seeing be really slow/jumpy?. So someone should have noticed this if so?. Also what about benchmark scores, did you benchamrk the card?.

If they do it in a fridge then that's a little unfair (joking :D).

Actually it looks like very much a mis-seated cooler / backplate probably due to manufacture defect.

.. and it looks like colinmcr has fixed it... and to be honest I can't see it going wrong: you made the observation on TIM spread before and after hack. Temps are now reasonable and your reaching full potential of card. So I would say fantastic again.

Whether OCUK tested it (I would like to think they did) but benchamarks you ran in comparison to theirs is another aspect.

I'm just happy I have got it working now.

Just benched Heaven, my i5 2500K clocked at 4.5
Card clock=915Mhz (15 above stock) Mem= 1410Mhz (10 above stock)

Score= 44.3fps / 1117

On stock settings score was 43.2fps / 1087

Very happy bunny now ;)
