My friend is looking to get a new gen card from the 6970 and he will sell me his for £150-£200.

Its an ATI Radon HD 6970. Would it work well with my rig? and does the price look good considering he will probably sell at the top end of that range?

Almost 200 pounds is not a good price for 6970 considering its age. I've seen some sell for 100.

You'd be much better off with a new 7870.

As above, a 6970 isn't worth over £100 now. The 7870 is near identical performance, uses less power and probably overclocks significantly further.

What price would you say I would need to be looking at for this to be a good deal on my part (while still remaining reasonable for the seller). Also, would my PSU cope, Its not a top branded one but it has enough power to run the card

100, a bit more if you want to be extra nice to him.

The psu is more than enough for a 6970 or 7870... infact its enough for 2 of each.

1 card, yes with ease.

2 cards, 7870 yes... 6970 might be pushing it.

Just checked your psu spec and it only seems to have 2 pci connectors so you're limited to 1 card unless you want to use adapters.

Yeah, If you run stock cables on this I think it is physically impossible to blow it up.
Also, the most expensive akasa venom psu only has 2 PCI connectors which seems a bit flawed.

You shouldn't pay a penny more than £100, and that's pushing it. you can get a 7870 Tahiti LE from £180, the 7870 Tahiti LE having 25% More cores than the standard 7870 which is already a match for the 6970, often more...

Depends on the brand and warranty status imo max you should pay is £110 and thats for a gigabyte or msi one with at least 1 year warranty left.

Avoid like the plague if it has a leaf blower style reference cooler the things are so noisy compared to a two or 3 fanned card.

£150 is just lol there's a 7950 going for £165

Its the ATI reference card. Not been overclocked. Might see if I can push the price down a bit then
