Hi Folks

I picked up a Sapphire 6970 today from an older card I had to RMA a few months back ( yes it took months)

Anyway I have a HIS 6990 in my current setup and i want to try the 6970 in trifire .. just a few quick questions

With the 6990 in my primary PCIe slot and the 6970 in the second:

Do I need to use 1 or 2 xfire bridges ?
Which card then do I connect my monitors too , or does it matter ?

Thanks !

The 6990 only has a single bridge but xfire only needs a single bridge.

I fitted a block to my 6990 because it got toasty and loud especially when next to the 6970 but they scale well and the performance gains are worth it.

Thanks johny . I was wondering how this will impact temps seeing as they are literally side by side with only a few mm between cards , if even that .

I have a similar setup. 3 x 26" Iiyamas and a 50" LG LCD

Be careful with it. No games will utilise 99% of each GPU. BC2 in 6048x1200 maxed uses only 60% of each!

1! The 6990 only has one bridge connector

Depends. I have the 6970 as the primary card and my 6990 as the secondary. Either way, use the primary one only. It is not nvidia! :)

Good luck

temp should be fine if u have good air flow.

on my old board the cards only had afew MM and the temps was 78c~ 80c 82c on auto fan.
