6am on Sunday, and I cannot make my mind up!

I've got a couple of the Mikael desks (in the pale colour ... maple?) ... they're fine for general use (and will even take my vast weight if needed).

Not the prettiest looking desks but they do the job, (at least they look better than god-awful pine)

I had a Mikael, it was a horrible thing! when I first got it i managed to drop my xbox on it...only from maybe 4-5 inches up but it punched a hole right into the top of the desk (it seems it was basically hollow!), then after a year or so it really started to flex and sag in the middle, probably due to me leaning on it but even still.

I wouldnt bother with it to be honest

Personally I like the Vika Amon table tops and legs. They're surprisingly strong too and can support my bulk for a few seconds. Plus you don't care if you throw it away.

I'm a loyal supporter of Vika Amon desks. There's nothing as satisfying as having a desk four meters long :D

Tempted by that frederik now myself, have been on the lookout for something, although I have no way of getting to ikea!

If you can fit the extra 12cm in width into your room then I can recommend the Jonas. Its extremely solid with enough space for all my junk.

I have a Mikael at home, and we just got some at work as well.

I think they are really nice. I have the glass top on the one at work, but not on the one at home. I don't see how people can think they are ugly, it's just a plain black desk.

I've got a Frederik and I have had it for at least three years.

Why do you have images that make your screen look smashed? Is that a screensaver?

Hey, I've got that same external HDD too

Neither of those look like they would last two months, heck, they don't look like they could withstand someone putting a cup down on them.

Get something with thicker (and real) wood.
Even the flat packed ones at Argos look better than those

I have one of these:

to which I attached one of these to one end (it's as wide as the table) with the hinges that came with it and a couple of brackets from Focus:

The room it's in has the stairwell cut through slightly so I have an angled bit of floor in the corner. The table fits perfectly up to that point and the leaf hangs over the angled floor bit! I thought it was great when I got it sorted :D

It is a good desk and I got the one with the top shelf too.

Even after my mother mutilated it by taking it apart wrongly it is still sturdy and has previously help a 22" Monitor and a 24" iMac.

It now seats a 27" iMac which you can see here...

Can you link me to the one you have with the top racking? I see there are two on the Ikea site but not sure what the main differences are...

No actually they don't .... the ones from Argos are really poor pieces of junk, same as all of their flat pack furniture.

I've had two of the Mikael desks since ~2004, both has been reasonably heavily used over that time and neither have had any issues at all (and have been taken to bits and reassembled a few times in that time to!).

One of the good things I found with them is that they are a reasonable size, to many desks are too small and try and get around it by using keyboard trays on rails which are a ergonomic nightmare.

I hate my PC desk because its ugly but its invincible, it's proper wood and I could jump up and down on it all day.

Neither of those could take much wieght

Oh man, I was going to buy that FREDRICK desk from Ikea, but there is no option for delivery :(

Looks like I have to go to the nearest one to pick up. Grrr, that is so annoying now.
