6GB GTX 780 and 780ti incoming

Nobody is saying you have to buy it, point or no point, the real point is someone will :)

What is interesting though is for 4K you need 3 or 4 cards to max things out, unless you fit waterblocks this is not an option for these EVGA cards using air.

I seriously doubt you need 3-4 cards. I tried out downsampling for a bit before my second card went bust and it worked just fine at 3840x2160 on any game I tried out.

I can put 4 cards to good use on Crysis 3 maxed @1600p, for 4K they would only just cope.

If anyone buys a 4K monitor it would be a waste of money if they start using it with the settings turned down.

They are taking the micky now.. These cards should have been out with the 3gb versions to allow people to choose 3 or 6gb version for their needs.

They are all taking the micky this year with same tech rehashed.. intel.. nvidia .. they are even priced ridiculously this generation of gpus from nvidia and the silly bitcoin craze turned amd cards from the budget choice to the way overpriced gpus too.. Yes I know ..supply and demand.. If people keep buying at these silly prices this is what causes these companies to keep milking the cow with the same tech but more memory or not fully enabled gpus in the first place.. Us enthusiasts are causing this problem by buying these cards and saying to these companies to keep ripping us off, like it's not bad enough we get ripped off in the UK as it is.. Sorry Nvidia you just lost a sale from me for the 780ti for this silly behavior and prices of this generation, which is basically now old tech when full blown Maxwell is out.

Logical but sadly a lot of people are not and will buy these because they think they know better and then wonder "oh wait why cant I play this game at 4K maxed out, The box has a bigger number on it ???"

We wont have GPU's that can handle 4K with a decent frame rate for another generation at the very least, Annoying but that's the reality of it.

Full blown Maxwell isn't out - the 750(ti) is closer to a refined Kepler really than full spec Maxwell.

Yes I know mate, was just having a rant and annoyed by what these companies are doing recently and just milking their loyal customers for the same tech rehashed. Well can't be long now before full blown Maxwell is out but of course they will release a few more graphics cards yet with the same GPU again in other forms ... here comes the 790 soon in I bet a 3gb versions first then ohh they will release the 6gb version after too and then we might get Maxwell at super inflated prices again because of course it will bitcoin well (hopes this bitcoin craze dies off soon, it's just another tech bubble that will hopefully burst soon and end this madness with silly priced GPUs or they will have cheap low powered SOCs that make it pointless using GPUs in this way)..

Kinda miffed about what they have done this generation and was hoping for UHD 4K screen too and a nice Nvidia card to run them but as we see it's silly pricing. I had my eyes on this Samsung LU28D590D UHD monitor ( http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/5269/samsung-lu28d590d-review-4k-becomes-affordable ) and a pair of 780ti's but the GPU prices are not inline with where they should be in my book with this generation.

Fingers crossed some sensibility comes back with pricing these GPUs or when Maxwell is out the prices come back to reality for the top end cards because £500-£600 for a Ti is silly money for such tech, it can't be costing them that much to make them, they managed in the past to price cards sensibly AMD and Nvidia, for a single top end GPU if should be max of £400 retail price on the standard version and £450 max for the special ones with special coolers and factory overclocks when they are released and as with all hardware they should be coming down in price every quarter not going up as they have been in most cases. Then when they come down to around the £300 or so mark for single top end GPU cards bring in the dual GPU versions at £600-£650.

I hope the fact Nvidia's allowed this doesnt mean maxwell's replacements for 780's are still a year away...

I bet you will see the Maxwell high end before christmas after they are done rehashing Kepler.. They clearly have a lot of Kepler GPUs they need to shift before releasing Maxwell. I have a feeling they thought they would shift a lot of them until the bitcoin craze helped AMD sell a lot of GPUs and Nvidia sat there with a mountain of chips they couldn't sell because everyone went bitcoin mad. Who knows what the real story is with this situation this generation but not happy how these companies are behaving this time round and also how retailers are behaving too with extreme price gouging.
