It's off my own back, I applied at the beginning of the month on a voluntary redundancy scheme to leave at the end of June. I'll get 6 months pay if I go, plus a bonus at the end of june.

Not really sure how I feel about it to be honest. Deep down I know it's a good thing. I've been in the same employment for about 6 years and got only a couple of £k more money, but it's more that I don't like the job and work from home almost entirely - not much fun.

Anyone else in a similar position? I daren't go in the 'I forgot how bad job searching is...' thread... :o

We've had a wave of redundancies over the last few weeks. It's not nice.

I can only wish you luck in whatever you pursue. Sometimes, something good can come out of these things although it's never easy to think that way at the time.

I am in excatly the same situation with the same leaving date but do not find out till the middle of June. I'll get 3 months gardening leave, 2 weeks per annum redundancy pay and a goodbye bonus payment which is about a months salary.

If I did not choose to leave at the end of June I would find out when I would be leaving between the end of June this year and September 2014, so it would be out of my hands.

The Banking sector is screwed but at my age, moving into another field will be a little tough, though I have plenty of transferrable skills.

We've had quite a few recently as well. People are getting the oppertunity to come back as contractors with zero hour contracts.

Seems like a good offer. The company i work for put almost everyone in the Scottish office on consultation for redundancy and what we are being offered is statutory redundancy that's it. A whopping £450 a week

Getting made redundant end of October myself. Getting a nice redundancy package and plenty of time to find another job as well.

Given me the kick up the backside to move on and find something better.

Good luck!
