story, I was driving home about an hour ago and noticed a newly erected 7.5t weight limit sign near my house, this caused me some concern as for the past 4-5years i've kept my american 5th wheel in my back yard (like every normal caravan owner)

However my truck alone weighs nearly 5 tonnes, nearer 12 with the 5th wheel.

Im sat in manc airport atm trying to google answers but struggling to find anything, does anyone know where i stand here?

Is this limit for commercial use only? or am i buggered? lol

cheers

p.s ive seen artic's up and down this road up until recently so in know they used it before.

The limit will most likely be "7.5T Unless for access" - The access bit is the critical part.

Is there a bridge on that road? the weight limit may be due to that, if this is the case, your buggered as a 7.5T M.G.W. (Max Gross Weight) limit on a bridge means anything over 7.5T must not cross it.

Post a google map location (or a postcode) so I can have a look please. :)

You know i never thought of that, there is a low bridge in one direction, but i take the other route direct to the M62. Its the 2nd sign you linked, with the mgw bit but it doesnt say weak bridge. It just says 7.5t mgw ahead in the direction of the bridge so i hope thats it heh.

apologies for the crude drawing, im not very good with paint hehe, i go the green arrow way

i think the fact that it says ahead is good for you. it'll have another sign closer to the bridge saying the point of the absolute limit

Having had a quick look, do you live on Sheepwalk lane?

It seems to me that the limit is to stop trucks (Over 7.5t) from using the B6136 as a Rat-run to Ferrybridge.

Anyway, you say it said "MGW" on the limit sign, you may have a problem, its the Max Gross weight limit that applys.

In other words, if your truck would be over 7.5t if it had a load (regardless to if it actually has a load on its back or not) you cannot use that route.

As you say the sign is ahead of where you live (if I read you right) then you don't have a problem until you reach the limit itself.
