Its not the best looking Tablet in the world but for £75 you cant really complain.

I think they're classed as a competitor if they stock any of the same products as OCUK... but 'subtle hints' are allowed.

It looks good for the price, but i think that pretty soon we'll see better offerings at around the same cost.

For instance... you know, i never saw the appeal in the iPad but when they're priced like this it suddenly becomes clear. One step up from your smartphone, a few steps down from your PC.
 
I got one off the bay for around £60 all in plus p+p. It's coming from China so should have it in a week or two. Will post what it's like when I've had a play with it. Looks okay for what it is and not expecting too much. Android 2.1 would have been nice but see how it is with 1.6.
 
I seen this on HDUK and I'd be interested in the quality of the product, battery life etc Wonder if anyone will make custom ROMs for it...



If it just had some buttons around the side of the d-pad then it would be awesome for emulated games! :D
 
it looks good, but how does the performance (mips/flops/whatever) of the VIA Wondermedia stack up against mobile-phone Android processors like the Qualcomm Snapdragon or the TI OMAP 3450? if it's roughly equivocal then it's great, but VIA processors often fall short in the grunt-department

also, if they'd just made it twice as thick and put a HUGE battery in I think it'd probably be a much better seller.

Is it a VIA CPU though? The description of the video says it's a PRIZM processor from 'WonderMedia'. Interestingly, PRISM is Parallel Reduced Instruction Set Machine, which greatly improves performance by simplifying the instructions sent to it, but it's quite old tech.
 
Had a look on eBay, there are hundreds of the things on there from £70 to £120. There are also a lot of iPad clones too. Was looking at Gizmodo last night and they were reviewing an Archos tablet, and Dell's Mini 5 is due out soon so it looks like these could be about to take off in a big way.
 
it is tempting at £75. But how slow is it to render webpage. even when connected to wifi, a lot of portable devices take ages to load webpages.
wonder what battery it has in it and if it could be changed for a larger capacity one.
 
Agreed, battery is a downer on it. Looks like a reasonably nice bit of kit.
Would prefer if it had a newer version of Android on it though.

Potentially awesome with a slight bit of modding... :)
