With OLED developing fast it's going to be really interesting to see it all pan out.

I for one can't wait to see a 40"+ OLED display in the flesh... goodbye to washed out and dim LCD and prehistoric Plasma tech

Whats going to be amazing is how thin the displays will be with no need for back lighting.... cinema buffs won't have to recess walls to get a nice flush screen and tv's can be hung anywhere.

Guess it's no reason to hang back buying a TV as 7 years is plenty of time to enjoy whats available now ;)

It's a long time, but I'm still amazed by the OLED demo I had a few months ago. It might have been a littly, but my god I was salivating!!!!!

I thought OLED was going to be the new thing that was cheaper and easer to produce then lcd/plasma. Well that was what they were saying a few years ago anyway.

From the looks of it they are going to be really expensive to produce for a long time

Its new technology, like everything else new to the market its always more expensive. Give it a few years when it starts to flood the market then you will see prices shoot down.

Its just the same as LCD right now. That was expensive at first, but now you can pick up 40" LCDs for around £400.

I have 2x 32" LCD Sony Bravias which will last me till OLED is mainstream and cheaper. I would have liked to see SED technology now Canon have the sole rights. Maybe that will be used in monitors to replace FED tech.

Thing is anything will look better when smaller as the pixels are so small.

Talking of demos - I get to see a 3D Tv on wednesday :D

It will be a long time before I touch OLED due to the fact Ive only had my TV for only few months now, the fun I had choosing between a Panasonic TH-65VX100 and a Pioneer PDP-LX6090. I wont have that kind of money again for a long time to come.

saw a philips 3d tv about 6 months ago.

that is the next gen (probably combined with OLED)

thing is its 60frames per eye, no glasses required.. great but that means your pc needs to be able to draw 1080p x 120 frames a second.. ok some top pc`s can, but all current (apart form samsungs new one) LCD`s can only manage 60frames/75frames.

so think of eyefinity 3 x 2 x 1080p i.e 6 lots of 120 frames per second = 720 frames per second on 1080p !

not going to happen for a long time.

new mobile phones are out next year with 3M 3d tech, and flat screens to follow, no glasses required.

proper 3d is really good, 1 3d screen vs eyefinity the 3d screen wins
