70-290- Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment question

Does anyone know how hard the exam is for this?

I took the (online) course this week, after only 2 months experience as a system administrator. Is it an achievable exam for someone with only a little experience?

Thanks

Well i've been supporting windows 2003 for 3 years now, did a weekend revision and easliy passed, but i don't see why someone with less experince couldn't pass it. Recently passed the ISA 2004 with very little experience, but i found the best thing to do is go through a decent text book (or in my case i used the CBT nuggets) and actually DO everything they do, reading alone is pretty useless. Get VMWare or Virtual Server 2004 (or a spare PC), install Server 2003 and acutally do all the things the book tells you.

MS virtual PC is free now. so may be worth a download (its tiny)
works well on core duo etc PCs as that have that whole virtulisation stuff going on

I've got a laptop with Server 2003 on it, but didn't have it during the course. Would you suggest going back through it with the laptop?

It's definitely achievable, as long as you understood the technology you were being taught?
Do you get any sort of content available to study with, post-online course? I'd definitely revisit key areas: share/ntfs permissions, and which takes precedence;backup/restore;groups and permissions (user into global into domain local etc).

Also go here:

It has some practice exam questions, and some other useful info.

Good luck!
