£70 for fitting a thermostat?!

Can everyone please calm down.

The first post didn't give enough information for anyone to give an accurate answer, I can think of at least 10 things in my house that use thermostats, some would be extremely simple to replace (the room thermostat for the central heating*), others would be much harder (fridge/freezer).

£70 probably isn't bad if it includes the part as labour charges tend to be based on a full hour or half an hour even if it only takes 5 minutes.

As for how easy it is to do, without knowing the appliance it's hard to answer - but many appliences will be made with service engineers in mind so probably not massively hard.

*10 minutes assuming it's didn't need new mounting holes drilled into the wall.

I thought he meant for an boiler? How is it obvious from the OP that it's for an oven?
It's not obvious at all, thermostats are used in all sorts of things.

Exactly, I'm still trying to figure out what the thermostat is for.

I replaced a central heating room thermostat not long ago and it was very easy but it might not be that.

if you cant help just dont comment and press the back button ?

instead of waiting for an answer to the second post people started going offtopic straight away

if you dont know what your doing then 70quid is a fair price if you ask me

I always found that if one wants help of some kind it was better to ask politely rather than post a vague question and then get shirty because people want clarification.

In short, get some manners and you may get some help.

Bye.

, even if he didnt include enough information all someone had to do is ask for more info (wich they did ) but wait for a reply (no one did)

instead a bunch of people who probably dont know what a thermostat is come in and make useless comments that derail the thread just because its 3am and they have nought else to do

I expect most people know what a thermostat is. The OP asked a vague question. Someone politely asked for clarification. The OP ignored him and instead threw his toys around and stamped his feet. Even more laughable is that some people are defending him

if people thought the OP was been rude why not just leave instead of creating another thread that will be locked/deleted

GD quality

How easy is it to replace a central heating thermostat? I have bought a replacement for the one that is on our wall down in our livingroom as it is looking a bit tired! Bit scared of taking the old one off, being unable to fit the new one and then being stuck without a thermostat on the wall

£70 for a cooker stat fitted is a good price by todays standards.i dont repair cookers any more myself but a friend who does charges £95 labour.i'm surprised you did'nt shop around for prices if you are so dismayed at shelling out.

With the pretentious and egotistical attitude of each reply to my question, i really can't see why i'd want help? :(

and on that note, how do i delete pointless threads with no help?

What an idiot... and no you cannot delete your own posts, fortunately you can delete posters by way of the ignore function!
