One of my regular customers at work (mot testing) has asked me to build a PC for him. He just needs a new PC and will re-use his Monitor/KB/Mouse/Speakers etc, and I have a budget of between 700 and 800 to play with.
The only thing he does is browse the internet really, and watch some films online so it won't be used for any gaming. His budget is overkill really but he's the kind of guy that likes to have good stuff and ever since he saw my watercooled pc he now desperately ones one too.
Must haves..

Case must be the Coolermaster HAF-X as he's been on OCUK site and has told me he loves it. He wants to watercool the CPU only, but will probably have to be custom kit as he wants to show off the watercooling to his brother and make him jealous. (dont ask) Red fluid too please.
The only other must is an SSD, and I don't even know if it'd be worth getting a regular hard drive for him as he doesn't really download anything.

I'll be ordering everything from OCUK and assembling it once it comes for him.

What would you do?!
:D

would it be possible to do the spec using only red and black components? His monitor is DVI, just a 22inch samsung LCD. Scrap the 500gb hdd and upgrade to 128gb ssd also?

As you said there was no rhyme or reason for your friends choice of case and components, so I have ignored them (at my pearl obviously)

If your friend is after 'looks' then I suggest a windowed case. You could then suggest the addition of some LED coloured fans.

A Blu-Ray Optical Drive has been added to enable viewing of Blu-Ray Movies.

A cool feature of the CM690 is the addition of an External Sata Dock on top of the case, simply means that you can take a HDD and just plug it in.

System should be good for a 4.4GHz overclock.

With an air cooler there are no worries about water leaks or pump failure.

Gamer ready - Just add graphics card and some storage, nothing needs to be exchanged or thrown away.

Anyway, just offered as an alternative and to give your mate something to think about.

Well i've printed out all your suggestions, and made up one of my own completely customising the watercooling and slightly over budget so we shall see what he ends up deciding.. Perhaps a little from each, who knows. This morning he wanted a blue theme, this afternoon a red.
