Finding it difficult to decide so hopefully some of you guys can help :)

So far as a base, I've chosen to go with

i5 6400 2.7ghz 6mb cach
Asus Z170-P
8GB Hyper X DDR4 2 X 4GB
NVIDIA GTX 960 2GB(Would going 4gb be better?)

Corsair 350W
Artic MX-4 Thermal Conductivity Compound

Not sure on Sound card yet but I'm not too bothered right now.

I'm not sure on a monitor yet, I've got a 42 inch Sony TV with low input lag would this be suitable?

total at the moment is £670, if there's a better Overclockers build for price performance please link me :)

It's all for gaming, I play open world games like Dayz, Witcher, GTA etc.

I'm a complete newb console gamer so bear with me lol

Yeah, you're going to need some help with that build, it's all over the place. See what other people recommend before you buy what you listed.

People might need more information before they can help tho, eg: if you need an OS, peripherals and whether or not you'd want ocuk to build it (for a price) or if you're building yourself.

Also a few pointers from myself:

I'd look at an unlocked cpu (with a cpu cooler) over a locked one. Overclocking it will give you a performance boost for free.

You haven't included storage. Perhaps look at getting a smaller sized ssd for the os and some of your most played games (128/256) and a 1tb hdd for everything else.

350w psu doesn't sound very good. I think you'd want to get atleast 550w as a minimum.

Onboard sound will suffice.

Might want to look at getting a monitor rather than gaming on a TV.

A few thoughts:

Stretch to a i5-6600 if you can, the step up from 2.7Ghz to 3.3 Ghz is worth it for games. Better still, get a i5-6600k if you can get one at a good price. Even if you don't overclock it the higher base clock will help. NOTE: you'll need a cooler with the 6600k, it doesn't come supplied with one.

350W is far too small. Something in the range 500W - 650W would be a better investment. Don't skimp on the PSU, everything relies on it.

Get a SSD for your operaitng system, apps and games, it makes a huge difference over HDD (use HDD for storage only). 250GB SSDs are at a very good price point these days.

8 GB memory is fine, but if you're building for the future get 16GB. DDR4 prices are in a good place at the moment and this may not always be the case (also usually harder to add memory several years down the road because of availability).

A 2GB GPU is fine for 1080p gaming. But 4GB might be better depending on your chosen display. Speaking of which, you're likely better off with a monitor than trying to make a TV work as a display. 1920 x 1080 monitors are very cheap and likely will give you a better quality experience.

Thanks guys

So I've bumped it up to an 15-6600 + 550W Supply.

Is the NVIDIA 960 good enough for a while or should I bump it to the 970?

Any mother board you recommend that will be future proof?

Maybe something like this?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk...y-VsCGy-WsCHy.!sCJy-*sDay@@sDby@wsDcy@zsDGyuV

That's without an OS, wireless card or an optical drive tho.

Also that card has 5 year warranty and comes with "The Division", which is coming out soon :p

I really like that! thanks! It's a tad out of my budget but I can stretch to that if I don't get a monitor for the time being. My TV is also 8ms which seems quite low compared to many others so I'll see how I get on with it.
