Hey, my friend is looking to build his first PC and he needs advice, I havent really been keeping up for gaming or PC's at all for the past 2 years so im out of touch, he wants to spend max £700, nvidia and intel prefered, and he would prefer to spend less if possible if the loss of quality isnt much, focus is on gaming. AMD GPU, entry level i5. You could spend a bit more to get an overclockable CPU or quicker RAM but I don't really think it would make enough of a difference to warrant the extra cost. The 390 is an excellent choice for the price, but if he's set on Nvidia then the GTX970 would be the way to go. Roughly the same performance as the 390. Costs a bit more but still within budget
