Hello everyone! I've got £700 to spend on a new desktop pc. After a bit of research I have decided it might be best to make it myself rather than to buy pre-built.

What I need it for is to wirelessly surf the net (wireless router already have downstairs), run photoshop, play HD movies and be as good at playing games as possible :)

I know £700 is not going to get me the greatest beast out there but as this will be my first build I would greatly appreciate your advice on the parts to get.

I don't need a monitor, keyboard or software and the Hd-Dvd's will be played through the Xbox 360 add-on.

Thanks in advance! :D

Sorry should have made it a bit clearer, I don't have anything as I was using a laptop that recently bit the dust :(

I would prefer a black case and parts if possible :)

I would personally go for something similar to that

Hmm...I'm liking the choices you have come up with. So I guess the E6400 is the best cpu to go for.

I like the 8800gts but would also like the 320gb Seagate. I don't think I really need a floppy drive? Ahh why does it have to be so tough! :p

Thanks so much for your quick replys. I'm going to have a think about this!
Hopefully will be ordering on Friday, will post up a first spec soon :)

Tombo's spec is best. Nuff said :D

Actually no, it would be, but he's missing a hard drive. Which makes mine the best ;)

DX10, Decent processor which is very overclockable later on, SATA, DVD Drive, Nice case, great PSU...

8800 is the best graphics processor at the mo, and it supports DX10. Therfore, it's more likely to last longer ;)

But by having the 8800 you have massivly dropped cpu perfomance, the x1950 is great for all modern games now and future

i havent i have best cpu

tombo has no wireless otherwise it is the best

Ok, how much would the 8800 drop the performance? Some of the spec's don't seem to have wi-fi on them or is it part of the mobo? Sorry for being a dumbass :D
