Anybody Zero Filled one of these drives ifso how long did it take and does Seagate have there own low level (Zero Fill ) format utility.?

Thanks

Usually about 30 minutes (I think it was for my 320GB). Same length of time as a full format. I'm pretty sure there is a Seatool for this, but I usually just use the WD Diagnostics tool for that.

Thanks Smids

30 mins is ok , aslong as it's not a couple of hours like the old large ATA IDE
drives :)

@wizardmaxx

I always Zero Fill a new HardDrives it's something i have done for years.
It's a good way of testing the drive as it puts the drive under full load and makes the drive write to all sectors of the disk,If it's going to spit out any errors or start making funny noises or get too hot i'd rather find out when i have bought it than a few weeks down the line.

you could try western digital tools as well
that has 2 modes of zero fill 1 quick and 1 long

i know its a seagate drive but WD tools should still work fine i used it on my HGST drives
