720p on a 1080p lcd (PS3)

I've got a 37" 1080p screen and the PS3 looks great on it, 720p an 1080p games, In a blind test I think you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference from anything over 5ft away, It would be easier to spot the changes if you could run a 720p game then swith it to 1080p for a better comparison but both resolutions look brilliant

It will look great, I have a 1080p Sony 40W2000 and it has quite a good scaler and I think in general scalers on LCD TV's are better than PC monitors.

But running a 1080p game or movie IS sharper as there is no scaling at all but it isn't a good comparison as the resolution is also higher.

Got a 55" Sony 1080p SXRD here and a 40" Sammy 1366/768.

Can hardly tell the deference between 720p/1080p with my PS3 even on a set of this size.
The only reason my Sony looks better is thanks to the 2.5ms respone rate and the far superior contrast/brightness compared to the Sammy.

That is not the point of this thread, the point is how do 720p games look scaled to 1080p
