7600gs 80% overclock

i would try, i really would, but i have had some nasty look with BIOS flashing so i shall regretable pass

heard about this disabled quad everyone (including myself) has seen in rivatuner, people think its BIOS locked, can one mod the BIOS to re-enable it?

with nibitor, not a chance.
doubt it would work if you mixed a 16 pipe card bios with the speeds, voltages, mem timings etc of a 7600GT

why does rivatuner show a disable quad on both my cards, is there anyway to make a BIOS from scratch or edit one to enable these?

well i aint going to learn all the code just to make a bios for that lol, and as i just said above, with nibitor i cant see it happening.
there are no options to do with pipelines, vertex shaders etc in nibitor

do you think all 7600GTs have locked quad then? since most people who replied to the other thread concerning this said they seen the same thing in rivatuner

only way we can find out about this locked quad is if a 7600 card appears with 16 pipes. then the bios can be compared to the 12 pipe bios and only then can a better idea of how the lock is implemented can be aquired.

otherwise you got to know hardware inside out to do a complete custom bios.

man that blows, would 7600GT see decent improvement with unlocked quad (im assuming thats 4 pixel and 1 vertex) at 655 core?

well it would be an increase of 25 odd percent in fillrate. so if the core benefits from clock speed increase then it will benefit greatly from more pipes.

so 7600GTs have 16 pixel and 6 vertex pipes, just like the 6800GT. they sound like a chopped version of the 7900GT, still why bother BIOS locking the extra quad (unless its faulty) or is there going to be a 7600 'ultra' using all pipes?

it does not make sense to engineer a core from the ground up with 16 pipes but only to release it as a 12 pipe version and less. no only does die size increase but so does the transistor count and that means the production costs ramp up too.

if the core really has 16 pipes im sure nvidia have something planned for it. otherwise its a complete waste of cash on nvidias part.

well theres no solid proof that there is 16 pipes, just because rivatuner says there is doesnt mean there actually are...

i doubt nvidia have got anything planned if it really does have 16 pipes, the card would be into 7800/7900GT territory then in terms of speed which would no doubt have an impact on 7900GT sales

not the first time thats happened :p

Edit: rivatuner claimed my X1600XT was only running on half pipes, which im sure is untrue
