will it be a lot faster than me 9800pro or a little faster?.

the bonus of the 7600gt is that it has sm3 ect so i will get better graphics and it is clocked faster than me 9800pro so should be a lot faster am i correct?.

will run ok on oblivion on the 7600gt but you will still have to turn details down and stick to the lower resolutions.

It'll handle Oblivion perfectly, and on decent res & graphics. My brother has been playing it on his 6800GT - 1024x768, not sure about what graphics but they look pretty good.

I emailed them today and got this reply

Dear Sir,

This item is due to arrive with us in the next couple of days, they
come from Taiwan via Holland so it is near impossible to be more accurate
than that.

So hopefully will get it the start of next week

I've just ordered a 7600gt on the special offer from OcUK, £98 including postage.

Im in the same boat as you D.Roberts, its time to retire my 9800pro. It's served me well, but 128Mb of memory just isnt enough these days.

I know it wont run Oblivion on max settings, but at least I can use high res textures (with the 256mb). I only run on 1024 x 768 anyway... I like 100Hz.

Also, im dying to see what HDR is like. I was going to get the x1800gto, but I would rather wait for a DX10 card and pocket the extra cash. £50 is a lot of saving for not much more fps on Oblivion. On other games the 7600gt beats it.

Also it doesnt need an extra molex plug like the x1800gto, and uses considerably less power. (all good these days, with the cost of electricity going up so much)

Can't wait for it to arrive.

Then come friday, its time to get my X2 3800+!! Yeah, people say CONROE!!!! But no.... Not if you have a 939 mobo... Its only £40 more. Yeah. And then the heatsink and fan, the new memory, the new mobo.... It stops becoming £40 more, and a new computer...

Im happy.... I wanted to upgrade about 2-3 months ago. Looking back, im soooo glad I never... I reckon i've saved at least £130 on the cpu and gpu costs alone....

Good things come to those who wait..

Cant wait to increase my fps on FEAR combat.... Its too low with the 9800pro, even at min settings everywhere. And no, im not doing pixel doubling and dx8 shaders, under ANY circumstances...

even with my overclocks oblivion doesn't run well. i tried it with EVERYTHING at max, grass, shadows cast by the grass, max view distance etc HDR, everything at max and it ran very sluggish outdoors. rez was 1024x768.

£98 inc posting what was the total cost you paid then?.

i paid £138inc vat and post.

He has bought the PCI-Express version from BFG.

You've gone for AGP which is quite a bit more expensive as now manufacturers have to go out of their way to make AGP parts do to having to use bridge chips etc. and as such charge a premium for doing so.

lol Cyber-Mav... Wanna know my setup at the mo on Oblivion on my 9800pro.

Med Res.
NO shadows outside
2 marker short of none on the interior shadows splider.
Modified grass olbivion.ini (makes it more sparse)
Short grass mod
bloom effect
1/3 specular distance slider
1/3 objects/actor/etc sliders
no window reflections
min decals
no aa, etc
water reflections on

Im looking at 15-19 fps in the forests. Bring an actor on screen and its 12 fps. Bring on two, and I better kill one quick or im watching a slideshow...

A game like oblivion needs a pair of x1950's to run at max settings smoothley..

Be thankful you dont have a 9800pro... or an x1600pro !! lol

Anyway, I guess I will be same once i get my 9600gt, and no doubt a game will come out that makes it run like my 9800pro... aaaah, if only I had money to burn...
