7600GT Volt Mod

Let me know how you get on. Will be ordering a VF900 at the end of the month to increase the cooling capabilities to perform the mod :).

well it must have worked, just benched at 650/1772...

So you basically just shaded in the correct part on your card, which allowed mem voltage to increase, and it worked with no problems?

What type of pencil did you use? :)

nope i shaded in the one for the GPU increase, never been able to bench at 650Mhz before. and no problems :)
and it was a woolworths pencil :D (HB i guess)

HB and 2H are most suitable, I use them for VDD mods on MOBO's, a mechanical pencil normally is good also.
If you wanted best you can get you need track down a pure graghite pencil which is hard to get these days but possibly in a art shop, cause all others are mixed with clay to different soft/hardnesses, this affects tha ability to conduct elect :)

BTW always confirm with a multimeter the voltage, you could pump to much volts into the card lol.

I aint read up on 7600's is ram 650mhz full stop or 1300mhz ddr ?

the core is at 650Mhz with the memory currently at 850Mhz DDR (1700Mhz).

i never thaught about checking it with a multimeter :o
ill check tomorrow

Ya you best check it and hit VR-Zone and see what they claim is max safe volts for thats cards ram, esp if not sinked.

Its hard to see in pics in OcUk, is the ram outside the coolers or under and getting cooled by sink ?.

yeah the ram is outside the cooler, but DDR3 doesnt tend to run that hot anyway.
but i havent put any extra voltage into the ram anyway :)

So they claim, well 6000 range like 6800U has the ram under a alu heatpipe with tall row of pins, so its same GDDR3 Ram only it was 1.6ns 600/1200, so it was sinked for reason and esp so if you overvolt/overclock it.
I cant believe the 7900GT's aint got ram sinks, esp some users overcloking mad, 1st step for me before Oc is to check out or add to cooling. :)
