What is the point of these two? I don't understand where they're supposed to fit in.

Well, yes, but what are they claiming they improve over the 7600k and 7700k?

Nothing, they actually perform worse whilst using more power.

Worst while consuming more power. Same applies to the 6 core CPU. You will be saving more money if you buy the 1600X.
And if someone says "the games require optimisation to operate with the Ring mesh blah blah". Yeah true. But ironically enough, the Intel spec sheet optimisation shows that it requires exactly the same changes related to the NUMA core layout, as the AMD Zen.... So why pay more for the same?
