Quick question from a long-time lurker but first-time poster,

Does anyone know whether either the EK Supreme HF or XPSC Rasa/Raystorm, as sold by OcUK actually support Socket 771.

OcUK's product descriptions mention 771, but looking at manufacturers sites there is no mention of 771 and no fitting instructions.

If not, are there any other new waterblocks with 771 fittings, or am I best tracking down some older models on ebay, and if so what should I be looking for.

Thanks.

LGA 775 are 72 mm apart in a square config
scaled.php

Socket 771/xeon are 38.1mm x 81.3mm - see: http://www.intel.com/assets/en_US/pdf/designguide/313871.pdf
page 36

It therefore will depend on the motherboard manufacturer, but if you look at:

you can clearly see that they are not square, like the 775 mounts.

I found this in an article on Maximum PC....

which might be of interest to you....

Thanks for the replys. Have done a bit more digging and turns out that both the Rasa and EK Supreme HF have mounting plates available, they use the same plates as AMD Socket AM3 e.g.

Out of the Rasa or the EK Supreme which are the better waterblocks or is there no real difference other than choice of appearance?

Not 100% sure whether to bite the bullet and go for water cooling or not yet, but the sound of 4x Scythe Kaze Junis is finally beginning to annoy me, so certainly considering it as soon as funds allow.
