Don't get a P4 if it's primary use is as a gaming PC

Something like an A64 3200+ will be in budget and FAR faster than a 3GHz P4 for gaming

Get an A64 3200+, 512MB Ram and a 7300GT for starters. Should easily fit in budget

I think he chose P4 so he can upgrade to C2D at a later date rather than buy a new mobo. Besides the mobo will support both AGP & PCI-E graphics so he can use his current AGP card.

Try reading my original post at the top. I know a P4 is'nt as good as an AMD for gaming just look at my siggy. It's getting built with an upgrade to a C2D in mind. There's no point in investing what little money he has in a dead end socket.
