Hello there,
I live in Great Britain and have just purchased a GeForce 7800 GS OC AGP 256MB GDDR3
Very impressed with it, Upgraded from an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb,
Massive difference in performance,
I was playing a Demo of Fear to see the Cards Performance and all of a sudden it started to get a little
Jerky ... Checked everything in Windows and seemed fine, After all checks i reseated the Card to make sure
it was in properly and that it was powered ... Then i noticed the Fan was'nt going around,
I checked the Temp in the Nvidia settings and it was in the 90's C,
The Fan is'nt turning at all, I've had the Card in the machine less than a Week ... Bought it a Week ago,
To be honest i've waited a long Time to get this Card and don't want to have to return it because of a Fan,
So ... Is this a problem i could check and fix or is there a Cooler out there that i could place on it and not
have to worry about the Fan not working,
I have no idea if the Fan is faulty or a capacitor etc that drives the Fan is faulty, Just a little worried that if i Buy
a Arctic cooler to replace the Fan and heatsink that this also won't work because of something on the
Card itself rather than the Fan itself, Anyway of testing the Fan?,
Great Forum by the way and the Technical Helpline is excellent,
Thank's so much for reading this and hope you can help,
Take care,
John,

If you're certain that the fan is connected etc and it still isn't working, you could return the card. OR you could buy a Zalman VF900 for it :), most people here would agree that its probably the best air cooler out :)

Thanks so much for the reply ... I had a look at the cooler but it did'nt
state it fitted the 7800 GS ... It only stated that the certain holes you fix
it down with was'nt 7800 gs ... So maybe the other Holes would fit,
No idea lol ... I get the idea that the 7800 GS is quite new as
it is'nt mentioned much on sites, AGP is slowly phasing out and PCI-E is
becoming the norm, So my 7800 GS AGP is'nt mentioned much,
I would really like it if SomeOne here knew the Wiring pattern of the
7800 GS AGP fan ... It as 4 wires coming from the fan and as a plug that
fits into the Gfx card,
I was thinking there may be a way of quickly testing the fan by plugging
the fan onto the Motherboard or directly to the Psu,
Is it 5v or 12v?, Again i have no idea lol,
Thanks so much again for the reply,
Hope SomeOne can help,
Take care all,
John,

Hi Stopmotion,

I too have that card, and there isnt a cooler on sale that will fit it yet, so you could be looking at an RMA m8 :(

I only wish that some company would pull their socks up and make a decent cooler that will fit it.

Thanks Broady ... Appreciate the reply,
I bought my 7800 GS from ****** and was going to send it back but ...
they have none left of course lol,
So i decided to Email BFG and they could'nt of been more helpful ... Not the
usual pre written Email, A great help and they said i could send it to Wales
to do the Rma,
I may do that ... Like i said i don't want to send it away lol ... I like the
card and don't want to wait Weeks for it back etc,
I have scanned around the Internet for Hours looking for the Wiring of the
Fan but could only get normal 3 pin wiring and molex wiring etc,
The Fan on the Card has four coloured wires ... Black, Yellow, Green and
Blue, This has a little white plug on it that plugs into the Gfx Card,
I'm guessing that One wire is live ... One is Ground ... One is some kind of
sensor for the fan speed and the other i have no idea,
So if AnyOne has any clues to what these wires are i would really
appreciate it, I just want to see if the Fan is faulty lol ... Again many Thanks
for the help,
Take care,
John,
