Thanks for looking, wondered if someone could give me some guidance as to how much I might be able to clock the OcUK 7800GT I have just purchased.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_This_Week_Only_25.html#aGX_2d032_2dOK

Stock clocks are 400/1000. I have seen one guy who purchases the OcUK 'value 7800GT (not sure if this is the same thing) and they got 490/1200! Thats some overclock!

Any views on this? What would be a safe overclock that I could use daily?

Cheers

Dave

I've got mine at the figures in my sig, it will run faster than that in most games but I get artifacts in need for speed most wanted if I go above 475. I htink I might get a little more with an after market cooler?!?! Ebery card is different so it's pot luck you'll just have to have a go and see!

very good overclock there, nice one. You have both given me some hope lol. If I can get it up to 450/1.1 that would be great. Can't wait to play COD2 as well :D

mines also at 450/1100, i tried the optimal frequencies, but only got about 470ish. ill prob oc it higher once i get the zalman cooler.

p.s fragster, read the rules on sigs, its 3/4 lines only mate.

I may give the volt mod a try when (and if) I think it'll be necessary... (which I don't think it will). I'm not going for the highest benchmark possible or anything like that, just want the latest games to run smooth.

Thanks for the suggestion though

I'm saving the volt mod for when my system starts to strugle and I want to drag every last drop of performace out of it, about the same time I start pushing some serious volts through the CPU!

ok but it's extra performance for free!!
FYI the extra clocks added about 300 points on 3dmark05, enough to put me over the magical 8000 mark!!

Think I'll have a bash at the volt mod this evening. Coolbits detects my optimal frequencies as 510/1.17 with the stock cooler. It'll be interesting to see how high it'll go with the mod.

I have the o/c 7800GT card, auto detects at 490/1180.

Currently running at 471/1100 with no problems, temps 50C with stock cooler after 90 mins of COD2.

Going to crank it up to the optimum freq's over the weekend and test again.

mines abit of a lemon it would seem, cant go about 473.

what is also abit strange is that i wacked my memory up to 1200mhz and ran 3dmark05 and 06 without any problems! So i think great... try abit of nfsmw and after about 10 seconds ive got triangles flying all over the place lol, even at 1100mhz theres a few :(

doubt i'll be buying leadtec again, anyone had more luck?

I did auto detect with my XFX 7800gt and got 495/1150. I have been running this ever since and have had no problems at all. I tried pushing slowly to 500/1160 but kept getting unstable messages from coolbits. Not too bad I suppose anyway.
