7800GTX Clock Frequency settings

I ve been having a play with the 7800GTX Clock Frequency settings in the manual overclocking

settings - Performance 3D

I have turned the core clock frequency from 430MHz to 490MHz

Memory clock frequency 1.20GHz to 1.30GHz

I have done a Test Changes and seems ok

The Temp of the GPU core is 50

Is this safe ?

temp seems safe, but you wont know for sure unless you test it with some games, also download 3dmark06 or 05 to test for artifacts, stability and maximum temps.

No never overclocked 7800GTX before , is it worth using the settings and doing test on 3dmark06 ?

yes fine mate. i have mine at those clocks and all is good

well tbh you dont need 3dmark, just play a recent game with all settings on max for a couple of hours at least, then check what the temperature is whilst playing games.
As long as temp stays below 70 you should be alright, thats if there isnt any corruption/artifacting on screen whilst playing games.

Then overclock some more

I have pushed it to 430MHz to 500MHz

Temp is around 52

Playing COD II for 1 hour temp went to 55
