780ti issue maybe

after new drivers and registry cleans being a new card the missus surprised me with GPUz says its only running at pci2.0 and on the nvidia control panel says bus pci2.0 how ever my previous cards have all ran at 3.0 and my bios is set to run at 3.0 x16 and unigene heaven only says 3500mhz memory as opposed to the 7000mhz it has? any help appreciated

3500 is correct effective clock will be 7000mhz.

What board? Tried updating BIOS?

board is an asrock extreme 4 but does support 3.0 as my r290x went 3.0

Is it showing 16x lane? If it is you won't notice any difference, possibly not even in benchmarking. Will be 1-2fps at worst

Which asrock extreme 4 chipset do you have and in which slot do you have the graphics card in.


I'm guessing you have the X79 Extreme4 regarding the cpu you have.

Exactly it's a SB-E not Ivy chip, only Ivy and up do Gen3 PCIe. So you will need to do the hack as mentioned above to make it work.

This and from my testing, it isn't worth it. I run both of my Titans at x16 PCI-E 2.0

I've noticed a slight boost in benchmarks running Gen 3 but in games.

SBE does do gen 3 as I have had previous cards running at gen 3 just not nvidia am I losing much performance though or not noticeable?
