7850 Idle Crash

Hi, I have just built my first pc and have received several BSOD due to my GPU.
I have looked around and seen that it not that uncommon.
I have a Sapphire HD 7850 2048MB. Everything works fine until I leave the pc and the screen idles.
an you shed any light on the situation and a possible solution?

Do you have a screensaver that kicks in or is your screen set to switch off in power options ?

I have windows 7 (64bit) and it just the default after 15 mins turn screen off

Which driver version is the card running with? Might be worth trying to update them.

The drivers are up to date :/

Does it happen just when displaying desktop. Or when the monitor sleeps and wakes?

Are you using the 12.6 drivers? or 12.4? 12.4 crashed a lot during idle, no idea about 12.6.

Try rolling back to 12.3? Or the latest 12.7 betas?

Seems there may be a solution with the 12.6 beta drivers

AMD Radeon HD 7900, AMD Radeon HD 7800, and AMD Radeon HD 7700 cards hang when system goes to sleep.

Ok im installing 12.6. It says to check your bios is up to date but when i try and install new bios it says i need a 64 bit version. I cant see a 64 bit version here ?

Don't update the BIOS via Windows. Stick it on a pen drive and use the inbuilt BIOS flasher on the motherboard (which can be accessed through BIOS).

As for updating drivers, make sure you uninstall the current ones through control panel and device manager, could be just me but I seem to find the latest drivers not installing over the top properly.

+1 for removing old drivers first. This can lead to problems.
