7850 Issue when idle

Hi, my new build using a Sapphire 7850 seems to have some issues when left to idle. Initially I had default sleep/hibernate settings enabled and when I would return to my comp it would come back with aero disabled.

I turned these off and got a slightly different issue manifesting, occassionaly when I return after a while there will be some screen corruption and on checking the event log I'll see the 'Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered.' errors. Obviously with artifacts the first thing I would think is heat.. but if I just login logout(no restart) it's fine. I've managed a 3dmark11, few hrs of css, hour or so of Black Ops without issue since I built it on fri eve.

Currently I'm leaning towards it being something to do with either the mobo/cpu idle power settings or the gfx idle clocks/voltage.

Any ideas about what settings I should be having a fiddle with?

Cheers

In my experience, driver crashes have always been not enough voltage going to the card. Though temps may give the same effect, if the temps are fine, try upping the voltage a tiny bit and if that fixes the issue, maybe take the card back in for a replacement :).

I'd expect that to be more of an issue under load though rather than idle? Does the voltage get dropped for the 2d/desktop clocks?

Yeah there are different voltages/clocks for 2d/3d (idle/load), if you download a piece of software called ASUS GPU Tweak, you can edit the 2D voltages and clocks manually. Sorry I did mean to put that in my last post.
