7850 Upgrade.

@Dave they do due to an Intel blunder

Asrock used to be part of asus but they are seperate brand now

Try both boards and see,and I'd still aim for a hyperthreaed chip

Yes, get a 2500k/3570k. With the 2500k, you can overclock the poo out of it due to the soldered IHS. The 3570k has advantages too, with more instruction sets etc

Ok. I had an issue playing the only game I ever really play via poor frame rates, MechWarrior online.

I was using a Sabretooth Asus Rev 1 mobo with a 6100 bd clocked to 4.3 gig. 8 gig ram, MechWarrior was poor frame rate wise.

I bought a H81 motherboard also by Asus off a well known Auction site, £15.50 delivered H81 M Plus. Tonight I got a used I3-4130 with a Zalman Reserator 3 for £50 from a local free ads site. All up and running.

I realise this is not a desirable chip, but damn it's quicker than the 6100, seriously the MWO framerates are up to triple figures. How can that be? the 6100 has 6 cores and the Haswell only 2. Maybe intel really are that much better? I am seriously impressed for a cheap chip it's a stunner.

single core vs the amd intel will be quicker

multithreaded the amd might catchup a bit or beat the dual core? idk intel is pretty fast tbh

Intel CPU's are much faster than AMD CPU's with MMO's because of the nature of most of them, most being DX9 or in some other way Single or low Threaded Games

Intel CPU's are about 40% faster clock for clock core for core.

More modern mainstream DX11 Games AMD perform much better as they make use of more cores, some games like Crysis 3 an AMD 8 core is about as fast as a Sandy Bridge i7, Clock for clock.

If you play mainstream DX11 games an AMD 6 or 8 core is a pretty good chip, even better at their price point.

But for old games or MMO's, no.

Having said that i have yet to see my FPS fall below 100 in World of Tanks, yet in PS2 it can fall as low as 40.

I did have Mechwarrior Online about a year ago, as i remember it ran well on my P-II x6.

I have never tested it on my FX-8350, is there a particular map i should test, Vale? i'm interested to see how it does, i might DL it again to test it.

Regarding maps, it's still randomly generated. 7 in total, the killer is Caustic Valley - lots of smoke. Cheers Humbug, it would be good to see your findings.

Forest Colony Snow.

FX-8350 @ 4.5Ghz
290 @ 1100/1400

These settings. (everything Very High)

Full round, 7 Destroy assists, 0 Kills :o

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
43773, 808547, 38, 142, 58.138

It played well, very smooth but my 290 was bottlenecked quite a lot even with those settings.

I wanted to record some action for you but didn't last long in this round, i suddenly remembered why i have not played this game since i tried it about a year ago.

Still, just over a minute footage there, half of it spectating
