7850 vs 7870

Well spotted. Nice deal. :)
Not sure if it's worth going VTX for the sake of saving a bit of money. I recall see people mentioning that twin fan coolers might look the part, but it's not actually that quiet nor is it that great of cooling performance. The reason why VTX is always cheaper than the other brand is probably because quality wise it is not as great.

The deal is great. I ordered the 7970. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/VTX3D/Radeon_HD_7970_X-Edition/

The 7950 is same price as a lot of 7870s. VTX cooler got good comments in a review I read, also I expect it's no louder than any other double cooler. In one review which may have been biased it did score 23db on idle and 41db load. Get mine on thursday.

I have read reviews about the windforce saying its not as great as they say it is, particularly that it is louder than expected and looks cheap.

Can't recommend the card yet, but I'm happy to get a 7970 at this price.

Also, I was impressed at the quality of components on the MSI I had ordered. However the card died in 5 minutes and the heatsink didn't look like whoever fitted it did a good job of it. You are paying extra for some gimmicks, and potentially a high overclock which isn't guaranteed.

Looking at it the VTX cooler does look like good quality, ugly maybe but I have a solid door on my case lol.

I see your points, and must admit that if I were buying a 7970 today, it wouldn't be the VTX. I would still pay extra for the Windforce. Still, £300 for a top end card,...that's a little bit more like it. :)
