7870 hawk bios

"Fan in revers at boot up" don't know, mine spin up fast for a few seconds when i press the power button, i don't know which direction they are spinning, never thought to look.

Mine holds 1100Mhz @ the stock 1.218v, it holds 1150Mhz at those volts.

I would RMA it, imagine you know nothing about overvolting, to you the card just plain isn't working. you shouldn't have to up the volts to get it to run at stock, it should do that out of the box.

RMA it.

Ill see if OCUK will send me a replacement first then ill send it back

Its 2 products ive had of them now in less than a month that dont work or DOA

Nope you PSU is fine.

Sorry could you just clarify what the problem actually is? Specifically what's happening.

The boot up thing I wouldn't worry about. My fans spin up loud as well when I power on. The direction doesn't matter.

Definitely don't go flashing anything while there's a question of if the card itself might be faulty :).

Sure :)

Basically if i run at game at stock setting then it stutters and i get terrible peformance all round

If i put the power limit in ccc or afterburner to 20% then it runs like a dream

I can also overclock it to 1250 on the core with no issues

Do some 3DMark 11 / Heaven Benches @ stock everything, once with 20% PL, and once without.

i guess not mate lol. What do you recommend? I really dont want to send it back :(

Also, the fans spin in reverse at about 100% speed at bootup

i know on this model they are supposed to spin in reverse to clear any dus but im not sure if 100% speed is normal lol
100% is probably normal, would be pretty pointless if it was just a mild fan spin as it wouldn't do anything. Supposed to last for 30 seconds apparently.

My system boots up fully in 12 sec. :D The GPU gets little chance to do anything.

@ djshauny1, yes :)

Ok ive done the first run

this is at stock but its slowing down and speeding up

its like its playing catchup when at stock

that was at 1920x1080
