You're truely retarded, i swear.

YOU'RE NOT LOOKING FOR QUALITY IN BENCHMARKS, YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE BEST SCORE POSSIBLE!

Jesus.

Dude, I said 24/7 use!! Not sure who's retarded, but it's not me, for sure!

Yes but this whole thread is about benchmark performance. When gaming, then yes your right, set everything to high quaility, but when benching, what this thread is about, the you set everything to high performance. The whole point of benching is to get the highest score out of your rig and to do that you set everything for performance not quality.

He said High Quality ... not high performance

Salabra is right on this one, some of you need to read what he sais

Thanks for some support. He's already getting a low score, so shoveing the problem away by changing to performance wouldn't be the way to go...

??? so you run in high quality not high performace when benchmarking???? the whole thread was based round benching scores not gaming use, at which point you would go for high quailty.

yes it would it will improve the score if you set it to performance lol

I partly agree with you

I think you should read what he sais "Stick to high quality would be the best for 24/7 use"

No ones trying to hide the problem just when comparing to others scores you need to all run the same kind of set up and most people know when benching that you use high performance over quiality. It will give a better idea compared to other scores and then people can point him in the right direction on whats holding him back

I was just stating that this thread is about benchmarking performance not 24/7 gaming performance

I usualy bench in high quality, unless i'm heading for a wr or something :p . Why? Because I want to see what performance I can expect while playing, since I'm playing with high quality...

I'm getting a 7800gtx 512mb on tuesday hopefully, so I'll check what difference it makes...

Fair enough just most people benchmark in high performance to improve their score and use real games to check out their real life perforfance. For me running a benchmark doesn't tell me how well my card with perform in an exact game, just how well it will run that test.

Right ok,

High Performance - More points
^
^
Quality - less points

Running quality in a benchmark is stupid end of lol

Exactly, and the whole point of benching is to get the best score therefor you use high performance.

yep totally agree, however i did "partly" agree with sablabra with using quality for 24/7 use but if your benchmarking, you want the best possible score and its mainly competition these days for the best score.

Thing is though, everyone benches with performance settings, now if someone benches with quality settings, then there score is gona be lower, and they are gona be saying "Eh, my cards not working properly as i dont get scores like you's", and the whole pint of benchmarking is for the highest score as said above, quality will lower the score, performance will boost it.

If there was a 3D champion competition, and say the winner with the biggest score got a cheque for say £100,000, the winner got a score of say 50k in 01 with performance settings, but the guy who finished 2nd only got about 45k as he was running quality settings, but if he was performance like the winner, then he probably would have beaten him, and so won, so it wouldnt be fair, and thats how you run a benchmark everyone does performance, otherwise there would be no compare to do, as it would be pointless comparing high quality settings to a low setting performance, as the scores are lower, how can you compare cards that are running different settings, you can't, and theres plenty of ppl like me who only run them to make sure there card is performing as it should, but if im running high quality, and everyone else is running performance/low, then im gona think my card is not running right as my scores are lower. :)

Thanks for the input guys. I do agree that the cpu is the problem. Not sure what to do about that though. I'm not that flush that I can replace my mobo AND cpu to get an AMD setup. I have to admit though that all the games I have tried: Doom3, Quake4, Battlefield 2, TOCA3 are running much much quicker smoother etc. Although HL2 Episode 1 seems to be a little slower than I though it should.
