7900 XTX 24GB Idle Temps?

Unplugged 1 screen for an hour, temps down to around 45-50 (warm in here tonight) power draw is around 10-20.

Are you running the latest drivers? I'm not sure what the reviewers have done to get the power down so much from the launch reviews, but I can't imagine they've done something super complex :o

Kind of surprised AMD hasn't addressed this yet, this issue isn't exactly new or exclusive to RDNA3 cards.

From memory you can manually correct this through the software and setup a profile and reduce power draw down to around 30 watts or less.

Edit
One cause is when your using monitors that have different refresh rates, drivers just default to a higher power draw (apparently the same is true with Nvidia cards but I can't verify that).

I use a RTX 3070 and two screens. One at 2560x1440 and the other at 3840x1440. Both at 165hz.
With one screen I see around 15w or so power draw from the GPU. With two screens I see around 22w used.
If I change one screen to 60hz, I see no power draw differences.

have you got the latest drivers etc?

Most of the recent reviews have dual screen power draw at a more acceptable 40-50w.

My 7900 XT is having an interesting time being plugged in to both my desktop monitor and my lounge TV (the latter over a 20 metre HDMI cable).

Slightly different situation as I'm not using both screens at the same time (something I've now enforced in Windows), but when it was doing so I was getting higher power draw (45-80W), artefacts, and slow downs after waking up my main PC monitor from sleep, even with my lounge TV on standby. Turning on/off Freesync on my desktop monitor also changed the desktop layout quite drastically for some reason. The fans always remained off on my Pulse at least.

It's been a month since AMD released some new official drivers. Fingers crossed an update is coming soon that addresses multimonitor support. Obviously they're holding out on releasing new drivers until the announcement of the Radeon 7600.

Yep, in reference to above, latest drivers, all upto date with that, Win 11 updates etc.. not sure what other couirse of action there may be aside from contacting OcUk next to see if they're willing to do anything about it.

Almost back to where it was!

Why is the GPU clock so high? Is that what causes the high power draw with multi monitor on the 7900 series? With my 6800 XT and two displays it's the memory running at full speed that causes increased temp/power draw (around 40w), the GPU itself stays idle.

funny thing is, years later this is still an issue. Currently sat at 60deg pulling 110w on 3 monitors, 2 only running at 60hz.

Current temps and settings - Running 2 monitors (1440p(144hz)/4k(240hz). I've seen some threads and posts on Reddit of people saying that at idle they're power is as low as 60w. Mine is never personally ever gone that low since I got it. I have a reference model 7900xtx With no hotspot temperature issues.

At idle on mine now (2 x 1440p @165hz & a 1080p @60hz) gpu is sitting at 60c,104w, on all default settings.
