7950 bios

i too got artifacts at 1200 core , i poo'ed a little :D. but it run memory ok at 1500. it just throttled a lot due to bad cooling

i am struggling to workout how the CPU load is worked out on 3dmark
i went from a 2500k @ 4.6, to my 4670 @ boost 3.6Ghz, all CPU benches show i should have dropped a little power but my 3dmark score staid the same.

haha sounds good, yeah a 2500k @ 4.6 is a bit slower than a 4670 @ 3.6.

The main thing that boosts a cpu score is if a cpu has hyperthreadding, which i5's don't have

If you need to improve the cooling for your 7950's take a look at my project log, its long but theres a section in there where I ghetto modded the cards for better cooling :D

I sore you project a long time ago and I had thought of doing what you have but I would like the cards to stack up right. If you could get a riser like yours with a 90o bend would work perfect

You can do that, you would just buy a riser like mine then a 90 degree angle riser :) or you could just angle the card more but I couldn't because my psu is in the way

i have stock coolers so the exhaust out of the case, so they need to be on a pcie slot

:D i removed the blower cooler and there is a plastic coating on the bottom, i removed the plastic and fitted some 1.5mm thermal pads on the ram chips. this as stopped all throttling. my GFX score was 44k with over clock 37k, now i have added the pads 53k

i have found the problem i was having and its now all good. i am going to wait for a VRM sink before going any faster. but i have a solid 1175/1450

Nice! sounds good, any photos of the work you have done on your cards? :)

Iv never had the coolers off my cards, but tempted to take them off and give them a good clean though now.

Though I have good temps they rarely exceed 75c @ 40% fan speed, but I love silence, so if I could get 75c @ say 35% fan speed, would be even better

but as you know your self, 40% fan speed on vapor-x cards is pretty quiet lol. but id like it quieter :p and maybe then I could push my elipda card more if it had better sinks on it.
