7950 Blocks

Do 7970 blocks fit on 7950 cards?

looking at this
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-049-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1673

I beleive its a reference design?

YES. (As long as its reference) The blocks are 7950/7970 compatible.

I think the linked card is reference looking at some pictures of other reference 7950

Doesn't hurt to double check with manufacturer :)

This is from EK.. so I will mail this to HIS and see what they say about it

"Dear Mr. Stuart,

A 7950 cards should be based on 7970 layouts.

However I heard some rumors that Amd let few manufacturers come out with their design and use AMD logo.

So in order to tell with 100% certainty I would have to see PCB w/o stock cooler on.

In case you can provide us with photo we will validate promptly, in other case I need time to get reliable info.

Thank you for understanding.

Best Regards/Cordialement/MfG/Lep pozdrav"

Dear Mr. Stuart,

I would have to check orders with sales dept. as we do not have a database with retailers stock condition.

Since everyone here left home already it will have to wait till tomorrow.

Sorry.:/

Update:

EK have started making a 7950 block since the 7970 doesnt fit

http://www.ekwaterblocks.com/index....ail,0&cntnt01articleid=128&cntnt01returnid=17

So far the supported cards listed are:

Sapphire OC and non OC edition (however the picture for the non-OC edition are wrong, I have emailed them to query this)
MSI Twin Frozr OC edition
PowerColor OC and non OC edition

Update: they responded to my email, they have put the correct pictures up now. So there will be a block for the Sapphire 7950 non-OC edition which is on this week only special atm!
