7950 crossfire

That's the fella :)

I have no idea on the 670s or 7950s power draw but I was knocked for six when I was beefing up my system all round and see I was hitting 1150W at the wall.

What kind of crazy voltage were you putting through your cards?! lol...
Maxed voltage sliders for both my cards i was peaking 880w from the wall, that's with a baby i7 though, not like your beefy SB-E

I'm playing smite and War Z if you have heard of these games I would like max them out on a 1440p monitor, warz at the moment I can't play on low in major cities with 60 FPS o

Have you even checked if either of those titles have SLI/CF support for starters?

My guess is that you will lose money on selling your 670 to then go dual 50's for one of them to sit doing absolutely nothing in those titles.

It's not as simple as dropping another gpu into your rig and shouting 'yeah baby yeah'.

My advice would be, stick with what you have got, don't even think about dual card setups or you'll spend most of your time in here trying to find out how to fix something that can't be fixed without driver profiles.

The real gain comes from triple screen. There'll undoubtedly be some gains at 2560 but it's difficult to quantify.

I'd say keep your card.

Hiya I've been looking at rustys thread about 7950 CF setup and I've been thinking could I sell my 670 for around £250 which will fund one of the twin frozr 7950 then I would buy another 7950 as the performance seems incredible for the price, and you may think a 7950 overclocked would do for a 1080p monitor but with this upgrade I plan to purchase a 1440p monitor to get the most out of the cards what are your guys opinions on my plan on upgrading.
Just want to point out one thing...you said you have plan on upgrading your monitor to 2560 res...but the question I would suggest you should ask yourself is...how soon?

You have to bare in mind if it's not gonna be for another few months, the chances are new gen cards would be out, and most of your consideration s toward graphic card side might be completely different by then, when there are new cards out, and/or current gen cards being price slashed.

I see little point on making the move away from the GTX670 if you are still gonna stick with 1920 res for a while...

Another thing to consider is the PSU as others have point out. CF79xx cards might be a little be too much for your 650W PSU, but next gen 88xx card might able to offer similar performance to the 79xx, but with lower GPGPU capability which might result in lower power-draw similar to the current 78xx cards, as possibly at a lower price point as well. If you have to upgrade your PSU for CF 79xx, then that's nearly extra £100 in cost.
