7950 GX2 Are they Noisy

Greetings,
Thinking of buying one of these but I have a few concerns about the noise. Looking at the pics it looks like they use small fans. Small usually means loud.

Are they loud?
How do they compare to a GTX 7900 with the quiet large heatsink?
Do they ramp up when playing Oblivion, Fear.

Looks a great card for the money.

I noticed no difference in noise from the 7800GTX 512mb (same cooler as 7900gtx) to the 7950GTX.

Do they ramp down to near-silent for normal Windows 2D use? As in "don't add much noise - if any - to a Reserator-cooled silent system", for instance?

Well I can get one for £290+ Vat which compares well to the cost of an X1900 Xfire systems

Double check its not one of the 7900GX2's flashed to 7950GX2, they are usually around that price.


Edit: Ive just seen them at that £342 inc so happy days

Well it is a difficult decision.

Just sold my 1900 XT-X and wanted something a bit more powerful but didn't cost the earth. The X1950 is a joke, Xfire with 2 X1900 is too much considering DX10 is not too far away. So the GX2 looks quiet nice.

Running a 2405 and a 3.6 6600 so it should sit well with my current system.

I will be on X850 power 620/620 until I can get something sorted
