7950 GX2 clocks

Just a quick question for all you 7950GX2 owners.

Is it worth replacing my x1900xtx, as I don't want crossfire? (It pretty quick 7.4k in 06 an near 15k in 05) Some of the reviews don't show it any faster.

Would it scale well with my cpu at 16x12? Playing Oblivion and Prey?

Most games will run a fair bit better at 1600*1200 4xAA/16xAF but Oblivion is the exception is it runs like a dog with the outdoor environments, but is allot faster in caves etc... Prey flys with the GX2 as do most other games..

Its weird with oblivion, changing settings, resolution makes no difference to performance so you would assume its cpu limited but its not.. doggy coding imo...

The GX2 is inaudible idle but does produce a slight whining sound at load but you will struggle to hear it over your case/cpu fans

Compared to the noise an X1900XTX makes its bliss

Just installed my EVGA GeForce 7950 GX2 SuperClocked it`s well quiet even put my finger on the fan to make sure it was running,a hell of a lot quieter than my old x1900xtx

Not had time to test yet m8 as im downloading half life 2 from steam,god it takes forever.

I don't think they will be quicker at DX9, if anything slower. I think the first round will be features over speed

Of course they will be,thats the nature of gfx cards.

They are not going to release a card that is not faster than the previous gen are they?

have any of you guys tried this on vista rc1? i've currently got a x800 o/c to x850- but got nothing but problems in vista- code 43 problem :/

im looking for a new gfx card- moving myself from agp to pci-xpress at the same time.

looking at a dfi board and adding in a gx2. i realise its no point waiting for a dx10 card since vista is delayed anway-and games wont be out for a while that are based on dx10.
