I'm trying to install the graphics card into this computer its a gigabyte windforce 7950. If I boot up with the dvi cable into the motherboard all works well but when I try and boot up with it in the 7950 I get nothing. Now If I take the card out I can access the bios fine (I thought maybe I had to set it to output through the card) but when the card is in bios loads for as second and then it jumps into windows 8.

The Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H

Any help would be much appreciated.

The drivers don't seem to install either. In the log afterwards it makes no mention of the card or having done anything

hi, i had similar issues yesterday, i have a feeling mine was down to card not quite evenly spaced in pci e slot, so the connecter (in my case hdmi) was not fully inserted.
I tried a GTX250 which didn't work either then tried it in pci e 2 slot and it didnt work on first boot but fine second boot, i then retried the 7950 in the pci-e 3 slot first boot nothing second it worked, and has been since.

Tried that kept getting a file size error through qflash so tried using the @BIOS and updating via the web which worked but still nothing

Nope. I dont even have anyone nearby I could go and see as everyone I know just uses laptops or macs unofortunatly

Ah great stuff. If its been around since July last year then I guess its probably not fixable. Really didnt want to have to replace the motherboard but if thats the only option...

That is the latest BIOS for rev 1 of your board

That is the latest BIOS for Rev 1.1

Make sure you know what board you have and make sure you have the top BIOS (beta) installed.

If that doesn't sort it, it could be a loose fitting PCI-E connector and make sure it is firmly pushed home and secured.

If swapping out to other PCI-E slots doesn't solve it, you could have a dud card.

You have connected the 2 6pin connectors to the card?

its rev 1 so I will try the beta bios and see if that lets anything happen. Im pretty sure its all pushed in correctly and I do have both 6 pin connectors on the card.

well keep us posted on your progress will be nice to know if they have fixed this with a BIOS update if it turns out to be the BIOS.

All the best and good luck

Good luck and like I said, a few had an issue but when they updated the BIOS, it was sorted.

Shame you can't put your 7950 in another PC to test it :(
