Looking at potentially upgrading my 7950, would a 290 be that much of an improvement or would I see a decent return if I picked up another 7950 off of ebay cheap?

I would probably wait a month for the 880 details. New gens/releases will always shake things up a bit and as its so close i would wait.

another 7950 would be best bet and can be had for around £120 now. Will also give you more fps than any single card on the market today and a damn site cheaper as well. I can't recommend 7950 crossfire enough, insane performance for the price point.

so 50/50 at the moment...cost wise another card is going to be say £100-£120 from what I see on ebay, but current gen would be say £200+ but would "in theory" drop in price with the new cards coming soon. However a single one of those is probably not as good as 2 7950's in crossfire?

Motherboard does support it, and I think my 750watt psu will be enough?

750w is fine

Why don't you sell your 7950 for like 120 and get a r9 290 and the when you feel like you need more power, then pick up another 290

You would see boost in games where crossfire isn't supported, but all other games 2x7950>290.Can't bit the look of two gpus, anyway.
