7970 causing me issues

Strange, as I get 60-110fps in BF3 @ ultra with all settings maxxed out? I stick vsync on and enjoy a completely smooth experience.

My bad, I forgot to indicate that above, yes, I was running a gtx 470 so ya, ultra settings were not an option.

Only issue I have is if I enable Overdrive it keeps setting my fan to manual when I reboot. It could be a conflict with AB, though.

No problems here since getting my 7970 which I've had since launch date. Runs BF3 on Ultra perfectly - super smooth. Interesting your having problems with 'ATI drivers' - I found nvidia drivers (which I was using with my temporary 275GTX card) gave me more 'glitches' in BF3.

Funny that, cause I was playing BF3 on my gtx 470 3 days early before european launch, and never saw a single glitch untill I changed to ATI.

I've had equal brand cards in my systems over the years (no fanboyism here)- and honestly can say the nvidia drivers have caused me more problems with games crashing, BSOD's etc and most importantly I hate the fact a whole system rebuild is required even after removing nvidia drivers whereas ATI ones remove ok.

Ti4200 > 9700PRO > X800XT > 6800GT > 2400XT > 7800GT > 7800GTX > 7800GTX SLI > 8800GT > 5850 > 5850 CF > GTX275 > 7970 (lol, thats if I remember them all!)

Ya those are the ones I am using. Everthing with ATI just seems to problematic compared to Nvidia... :(

Having read numerous reviews with none mentioning the problems you are I'm feeling an issue with PEBCAK may be occurring.

My office rig is totally AMD (CPU + GPU.) and my home rig is Intel + Nvidia and I have to say both are pretty good.

*Edit* Oh and guys, my home rig has run a Nvidia, AMD AND Intel gpu at the SAME TIME, there is no damn need to re-install a damn OS to install a new video card FFS, things have moved on since Win98.

I've had simular problems as the OP. Having said that, my machine failed to boot one day resulting in the dreaded system restore. That resulted in the desktop appearing as black and red. Needless to say, I've have just this evening re-installed Windows.

Mines fine, swapping it out for a 7970 tho, never had a problem with ATI, I was under the impression that nvidia drivers where baaaad. I like that ATI release every month.

Obvious troll is obvious

Why would I want to troll anyone?, that happens to be my feelings and opinion on the situation, which I am entitled to, you are also entitled to an opinion of your own, and if it happens to differ from mine or anyone elses, does that automatically make me or someone else a "troll" ?, I think you have some maturity and/or common sense issues.

I have had an nvidia 8800gtx fail on me because of a driver nvidia released which was frying cards. You seem to think nvidia dont have the problems that amd have. Well they do have problems which is to be expected now and then. It sounds like you have a faulty card. Nvidia and amd cards have fail rates just like any electrical appliance. Its nothing new and you have been unlucky just like other people that recieve faulty cards whether that be amd or nvidia.

There is plenty of nvidia driver issue threads on this forum alone it happens. If you dont want to have the odd driver issue i would stick to console gaming and even then some games need updates.
