7970 CSQ Backplate with none CSQ Block?

So I can't seem to get hold of the standard backplate for the 7970, and OcUK are only stocking the CSQ backplate. I currently have the NickePlated blocks if it makes a difference.

Failing that, if anyone knows a source for the backplates (Not EK website, prices are stupidly high) feel free to trust me a link :)
 
Thought as much, the EK Configurator says it will fit, but some websites say it's only for Asus cards, some only for CSQ blocks. I'll buy one and test it, if not I'm sure someone in the MM will buy it. Thanks bud :)
 
NP, the ones that will only fit Asus cards are probably aimed at the Asus DCII, which stands to reason they would only fit those cards as its a different block/PCB to the ref 7970's :)
 
a few may differ from the reference design, but the vast majority will be full reference design, the only other one that springs to mind is the MSI Lightning, which like the DCUII has its own range of waterblocks from EK.

If in doubt check EK's cooling configurator :D

The proper safety distance should be higher to prevent this sort of issues. If you have already installed the card and have no problems, then do continue using backplate without worries. The safety distance can be checked by bear eye. In case you have uninstalled "faulty" backplate do contact our support and we will have product replaced. Thank you.
