7970 Lightning, worth the premium?

2119 in heaven, 1200/1500 1.2/1.65v/+20mv aux

Gave it a voltage bump to be safe.

Am I seeing things, Crysis 2 is back on steam?!
 
Load up afterburner and click the drop down next to the voltage, will give you core, memory and aux voltage options.

What are you getting 15fps in?
 
Think 1185 is my max [email protected], can increase volts and temp maxes at 62 but artifacts show in heaven. but can get mem to [email protected] stable. Benched ok

Is AB temp reading fairly accurate???
Anyways running 1120/1600 24/7 BF3 ultra,(prefer without AA and hbao) getting about 120fps @1080p and 52deg and Vquiet, happy chappy!!
Very happy with this card so far, but now packing for weekend away, dam it!!
 
Yeah the temp readings are usually spot on. Had to really push to get my temps over 60c.

Have a hunch this thing is going to fly when it gets some tender water love.
 
So if temps are low 69(or is this high with these cards) with 1.3V and it still wont go past 1190 without artifacting, is this my max and my question is would water really help??

Sorry for being a douche but come off a card which is 3/4 generations old which would not OC. And that card got to 86deg, whilst playin bf3 on medium.
 
Also the temps you are seeing are from the core temperature, the VRM's will get hotter and hotter the more voltage you use, this is when water will help. Remember these cards have gawd knows how many phases, aux voltage control and that seemingly pointless 'reactor core' thing.

I would also stay away from something as high as 1.3v while air cooling, its asking for trouble (ask Mal).

Take it slow and have a good read up on overclocking with these cards, its usually not as simple as add voltage/core/memory until you're happy.

TL;DR: IMO water will help.
 
It was only a kamikaze run, just to see if i could get to 1200 without artifacts. Did not think about the other component temps, so thanks for that pgi947, now hurry and get that block, so we can see this card fly.

Will the temp readout terminals show other temps??
