7970 Overclocking issue!

Just wondered if this is specific to me or is the norm, when I overclock the memory on my 7970 past default the card runs at full vcore even when idle, everything else will be fine ie: the card uses lower clocks when idle as it should, no other setting effects this just overclocking the memory.

I run eyefinity and right now im only running 1 7970, the drivers used dont make a difference, im also using the newest afterburner.

Any ideas? Thanks.

My 7970 does the same. When memory is clocked at stock of 1375MHz then the vcore drops on idle to 0.950v but with any change from default speeds then the vcore remains at 1.170v regardless of clock speeds; idle / load etc.

Are you using multiple monitors?

I am using 3 monitors in eyefinity and 1 extended
