7970 overclocking

Hey guys,

I'm overclocking my HIS IceQ 7970 with stock clocks of 925 core and 1375 mem MHz. I've reached 1100 core and 1550 mem MHz. The sliders only go up a further 25MHz each. My overclock appears completely stable. No voltage tweak or upping the "power thing" to 20%

I've heard that 7850s could easily reach the max the sliders, but I didn't know 7970s could, so basically what I'm asking is does my overclock sound excessive and the games I've been testing it on are just not GPU intensive enough, or is this pretty normal overclock for a 7970 and I shouldn't worry about how high my overclock is?

... so long as your temperatures are fine, those clocks are fine for 24/7! (with that card, i'm 99% sure the temps will be fine...)

I run at 1150/1550 24/7 ... around 70'c under load ( you don't want much higher than 75'c ish! You will likely notice the 175 MHz difference ;p

Hmm I put the lightning boosted bios on my xfx core but 85 degrees at 1050mhz sucks.......maybe it's the memory causing all the heat at 1500mhz. I might try some other bioses. I'm buying another 7970 on Friday.....wonder if there are any reference ones with nice cool bios.
