Hi guys, been out of the loop a bit on graphics cards (having long ago written countless tutorials and stickies on BIOS flashes and allsorts). I have a lovely 2 month old 7990 (Powercolor) which all of a sudden is only showing one core in CCC and furthermore is performing like a 7970 to boot :(

This came after a crash with screen corruption while i was AFK (no load) and no matter what i do it wont come back. Ive tried multiple reboots, new drivers and a plethora of windows tweaks. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Cheers fellas!

Mine is the reference full 7990 so im fairly sure xfire is irrelevant? (i also owned the bodged together xfire one was not a good buy!) and im a lil worried that flashing a bios could be a bit erm dangerous, least of all to warranty? but thanks for the info ill have a browse

ive run thru all that but i still have no GPU 2, there are no xfire options at all ive not had any of those since i switched to a 'proper' 7990 as im pretty sure its not applicable to these ones.

hmm just a thought. is it getting enough power? it might shutting the second core parts off???

i had thought of this as it went away before and came back, thing is its on a corsair 850W PSU with 4 PCIE rails ive swapped the rails over to no avail but i do have a few connected hard disks that arent powering up too so its not impossible right now

Did your second core give annual leave notice? Check your Outlook calendar.

On a serious note, that doesn't sound right. If you have done the obvious like reinstalling drivers, RMA it

Firstly have you tried to reseat the card in the PCIe slot? The card being slightly loose or a bit of dust can do all kinds of weird and wonderful things. Also any other PCIe slots you can try or another PC you can try it in? Always best to check these things, as improbable as they sound, it does happen :)
